About us

It all started with one rug

Vintage Vaibad began very simply – with a single rug. We wanted a handmade rug for our own home.

One day, Netty said to Mihkel: “Let’s buy a rug for ourselves. They’re so beautiful and unique!” And that is how our first handmade Iranian rug found its way into our home.

At first, it was simply a beautiful rug in our home, but it did not take long for Mihkel to become just as interested. Together, we started learning where these rugs come from, how they are made and what their patterns, colours and history can tell us. The more we discovered, the more fascinating the world of handmade rugs became.

One rug led to another, and then another. Over time, we built our own collection, and today searching for and selecting new rugs has become part of our everyday life.

That shared passion grew into Vintage Vaibad.

Netty and Mihkel

Vintage Vaibad (Vintage Carpets) is run by Netty and Mihkel. Netty has studied conservation, and her knowledge of preserving and appreciating old objects naturally complements our love for handmade rugs.

Mihkel works as a service manager and brings years of customer service experience to Vintage Vaibad, along with the belief that every customer deserves honest and personal advice.

Every rug is carefully selected

Our collection consists of hand-knotted rugs that we have carefully selected ourselves. We look for rugs with character, quality and a story of their own – rugs that deserve to find a new home. When needed, Netty carries out repairs, while Mihkel takes care of beating and wet-cleaning the rugs.

We believe that handmade rugs should also be cleaned and repaired by hand.

A good rug does not have to be new

We believe that a good rug does not have to be new. A high-quality handmade rug can last for decades and move from one home to another, collecting even more stories along the way.

When you find the right rug in our collection, you are not simply bringing home a piece of interior décor. You are giving a rug a new chapter, allowing its story to continue in your home.
