Persian Kerman Wool Carpet

•••RESTORED••• This is a beautifully hand-knotted wool rug from the Kerman region in Iran, which stands out for its elegant style. The first thing that catches the eye is the deep blue central field, dominated by a large hexagonal floral medallion. Around it, more empty space has been deliberately left, which really highlights the dense ornamentation.

Characteristically for Kerman style, the carpet also has a very wide and richly filled flowing border, which isn’t strictly defined by lines. Large light flowers, red and pink rosettes, blue flower clusters, leaves, and winding arabesques intertwine in it. This kind of complex, curvy floral ornament is very typical of Kerman carpets.

Condition: The rug is in very good condition. There is even surface wear. Originally, one edge of the rug was very worn, so we manually re-edged it using wool yarn close to the original color. Additionally, the rug is signed, which likely indicates the workshop where it was knotted. We have also dry and wet cleaned it ourselves.
